Rube Goldberg…some old guy who liked to draw simple machines...

Reuben Garrett Lucius "Rube" Goldberg was an American cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer and inventor.
“They let engineers be sculptors?” you might be asking.
Yes, the law that kept “artsy” people from doing “nerdy” things was repealed years ago.
"Parents used to name their kids Lucius?" you might be asking.
Yes, back in 1883 "Lucius" was a popular name.
"Isn't that the guy who married Irma Seeman?" you might be asking.
Yes, that would be him.
"...and had a son named George W. George?" you might be asking.
Bingo!
Anyway, Rube was big into drawing cartoons depicting complex gadgets that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways (at least that’s what Wikipedia says, and they should know).  He made these cartoons back in the early 1900’s, and they were fairly popular (people were smart back then, and appreciated engineering humor).  What's funnier than using simple machines in unexpected ways?
What would be better than a Rube Goldberg cartoon? A Rube Goldberg video (with OK GO! singing in the background).   Click here http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=qybUFnY7Y8w
