Don’t bother checking your messages…

Wondering if you are going to win the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2013?  Wonder no more, they gave it to someone else (better luck next year).  This year the prize went to Francois Englert and Peter W. Higgs (yes, THAT Higgs guy)

Back in 1964 Englert and Higgs came up with a theory about the origin of mass (heavy stuff indeed).  It was - in it's simplest form - one of those, "If A is true, and B is true, then C - even though we can't see it, and have no proof of it - must be true."

"So wait," your saying, "they picked up a Nobel Prize for their thoughts and musings?  I have some theories of my own..." That's great, but their theories turned out to be accurate.  Evidence came in 2012 from CERN.

The life lesson?  Predict something before people are able to see and measure it, and you win a prize.
