Isaac Newton is known for his “Three Laws” (he’s actually known
for a lot of other amazing stuff, but you can look that up on your own.).
Newton looked at the research and measurements that others had
done, and came up with his own ideas –basically building on what was already
there (discovery is rarely a one man show).
Newton’s Three Laws are at the same time boring and amazing. Boring as in, “Yeah…action and reaction…big
deal Captain Obvious.” And amazing, as in “Wow! Newton Laws can be used to describe
the motion of a comet billions of miles form us?”
You may never see a Higgs boson (or the Higgs field that is
presumably all around us), but you do get to see examples of Newton’s three
